The same judge, Broward Circuit Judge Marc Gold, who sentenced Aaron Mohanlal to 43 years in prison after being found guilty on 13 counts including child abuse, molestation and lewd battery granted him a rare bond that allows him to remain free while his case is tried on appeal–which can take several years!

This man sexually abused a student for two years and was caught on video surveillence threatening the student if he told anyone.  Why in the world would a judge give that sentence and allow the man to walk the streets around other children.  He doesn’t deserve to be around innocent children where he may attack again!  He wears a GPS monitor but from what the article says, it is loosely monitored.

The family of the boy are angered and saddened and don’t understand why they even had a trial if the man is walking free.  I agree it makes no sense that someone that dangerous is allowed to live his life normally after committing and being convicted of such a crime!  He is allowed to work, travel and attend church in South Florida freely but has had his passport taken away.  Wow…Please comment on this!  I’d love to know what others are thinking…Are you as outraged as I am?  I can’t imagine what the family is going through!

Sadly, this case is an extreme but there are several teenagers who are out there abusing other children.  Because of their age, we as adults tend to allow them more access to our kids.  Let your kids know that teenagers and other kids can be strangers too.  I can only imagine how he lured her into the abandoned trailer but I wonder if someone saw the kids going in and didn’t speak up…

We have to teach our kids that the most important thing they can do is tell us where they are going.  That way when the child thinks someone is a friend, we as parents may still be able to intervene.  What a sad case!

It’s bad enough that the parents of 3 siblings gave them ’silly pills’ and forced them and their then 10 year old aunt to perform sex shows for adults but it’s even worse that 50 to 100 people would should up ONCE A WEEK to watch it–and not say a word!  This happened in a town of 5100 people and I don’t know where the audience came from but I know that there are hundreds of predators lurking around!  What is going on in this world?  People need to speak up against these sick crimes.

To top it off, according to CNN’s article, linked below, one of the foster parents, John Cantrell who was given permanent custody of the children was charged this week with sexually assulting a child 18 years ago.  Of course his wife–who probably wasn’t there says he’s guilty.  Have the kids just been placed out of the frying pan and into the fire?

Fortunately, two of the children spoke up for themselves and an investigation was launched in June 2005, but will they have the strength and reserve to speak up again if they are living with another child predator?  What a sad situation for these innocent children.

One highlight of this tragedy is that the GUILTY verdict is in for 3 of the 6 adults including the father of the children.  The first two received life sentences after grooming the kids for these acts.  The father of the children, Patrick Kelly, awaits sentencing and is also up for life.

A stranger is someone who steals things???

Posted by webmaster on June 9th, 2008

When Diane King asks young children who a stranger is, the number one answer she gets is that a stranger is someone who steals things!  Why do you believe kids have such grave misconceptions about strangers and what can we do as parents, caregivers and loved ones to change that view?

Do Predators Deserve a Second Chance?

Posted by webmaster on June 9th, 2008

There are many facebook groups that are for the castration and death of child sex offenders.  Do they deserve a second chance and can they even be rehabilitated?  Please share your thoughts on this topic.  I know it will be very controversial because of the nature of the topic but it is a real concern–both for the predator and those they Prey on.

Over the past few years predator attacks have received increasing local news coverage and situations have been featured on shows like Nancy Grace and NBC’s To Catch a Predator.

Many people feel that the increased coverage is due to an increase in attacks but others feel that predators have violated children in large numbers for years.  Has this been an under-reported silent epidemic or are predator attacks on the rise?
