About DK Novels & Playwrights...

DK Novels & Playwrights is a company that was formed in 2007 by Diane King in order to fill a need in the children's publishing world regarding health and safety information for children. Since most traditional publishers put little to no focus on these much needed topics, DK Novels & Playwrights is increasingly becoming the place to turn for these materials.

With new workbooks and classroom related programs being developed, DK Novels & Playwrights plans to emerge as the industry leader in health and safety information. By working with schools, families, corporations and non-profits we are keeping children safe and healthy one story at a time....

  Author Diane King

Diane King, former reading teacher and mother of two, wrote Mr. Stranger and the Lost Puppy after a predator living nearby lured away five children. With no books available on the topic when she went to a major book chain, she became determined to help families protect their kids by writing a book herself.

After already reading to over 50,000 kids in the last year and a half, Ms. King notes her greatest accomplishment as being a connector between children and families. "It's always rewarding when a child tells me that they went home and talked to their parents about being safe or that they read my story to their little brother or sister! Everything we do to educate our children is a step in the right direction!"

Diane is currently working on creating an Awareness Series which will include Mr. Stranger and the Lost Puppy along with stories that focus on children making safe decisions no matter what tactics are used by predators to lure them away or hurt them.

Illustrator Jerrold Jones

Jerrold Jones is a talented up and coming artist that has been drawing since the age of 2. This self portrait of himself is a small testament to the level of talent that he possesses.

With a difficult topic of strangers and safety, Jerrold decided to use softer illustrations to create a balance for children. Each picture is uniquely beautiful and displays his natural talent. Although there is a stranger in the story, you will notice that Jerrold never showed his eyes. It was a skillful way to depict a general person without being able to actually connect with the character.

He has been featured in magazines and his work has been displayed in Borders book stores in San Antonio. His favorite artistry is oil and canvas painting. To learn more about Jerrold or request a painting or illustrations, visit www.jerroldjonesart.com.
